This stretch of sand runs from the estuary west past the new Royal Solaris hotel, continuing until it reaches Costa Azul. Playa Hotelera beaches are generally not recommended for swimming due to the shore break and relatively deep drop-off. On the west end of the playa are Plazas Garuffi and Caracol, where one can find a variety of fine shops and restaurants. The beach below the Plaza features public palapas, and across from it is a popular children’s park with play equipment, a small carpeted soccer stadium, water park fountains to play in, all set amid plantings of native flora.
