The destination opens new routes from the U.S., London and welcomes their 5 millionth passenger

LOS CABOS, Baja California Sur - December 17th, 2018 - The Los Cabos International Airport is set to welcome 5 million passengers this year, the record mark is set to last several days, with an expected arrival of 5,300,000 passengers over the final few days of the year. With these figures, the airport will be closing off 2018 with an increase of 7% compared to 2017.

Los Cabos has positioned itself among the top destinations for both national and international travelers. By the end of 2018 Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico (GAP) will welcome new routes, benefitting the development and positioning of the destination even further.

On December 15, Frontier Airlines will begin direct operations from Los Cabos to Las Vegas, connecting two of the most important destinations worldwide for travelers seeking unique experiences and exclusive services. By 2019, new routes are slated to launch from St. Louis, Milwaukee and Cincinnati, with operations from Apple Vacations and Vacations Express respectively.

Starting November 2019, TUI Airways will operate a twice weekly route from London Gatwick Airport to Los Cabos. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner will carry up to 344 passengers, triggering a larger flow of tourism from Europe.

With these results, the destination continues to strengthen its position as the best beach destination in Mexico.
